Illustro Obscurum Volume 1, First Edition

The zines are finally finished! I thought I'd give you all a heads up that the Yog-Blogsoth store will go live 24 hours from now (that's 10:30 am EST, Tuesday July 24 2012). The first edition is limited so make sure you're awake and ready. Here's a quick look at the zine.

I designed it to look as close to a Lovecraftian grimoire as possible, complete with a fake Latin name (Illustro Obscurum is, I'm sure, really bad Latin for Illuminated Darkness).

The covers were designed by me, and hand screen printed by the awesome dudes over at Awesome Dudes printing here in Philadelphia.

The insides are full color and also designed to look like a worm eaten, time worn book of magic. They were printed at Fireball Printing and came out beautifully.

Here's a close up of some of the creatures. There's a total of 20 of the smaller guys, all presented with the text, just like on the blog.

There are also 2 Gods In Human Form and 2 Great Old Ones presented larger so no details get lost.

The back cover is also printed and each page was hand torn for the ragged edges.

See?Each copy will also be hand signed and numbered (1:1/30 indicating the first edition and one out of 30 [5 are being sent to various publishers so only 25 will be available here])

These were all hand assembled by myself and Jeanne D'Angelo so expect some variation and a few slightly off staples. Again, only 25 so be prepared tomorrow! Here's a rundown of the specs again:

  • Hand printed covers.
  • Hand torn/assembled.
  • 10 full color pages.
  • Images of 20 small creatures, 2 Gods In Human Form, 2 Great Old Ones.
  • Hand signed/numbered.
  • 8.5"x 11"
  • $15 (plus shipping)

There will also be 2 posters available in the store as well. And if these go well, expect more volumes in the future!

  1. Wow oh wow, this is exciting!! :D

  2. Those look awesome, my man! Fuckin' A!

  3. Just a question about the 10:30 EST time thing. Given that everyone (I think) on the east coast is on daylight savings, do you mean 10:30 EDT or do we have to do some type of add an hour or take off an hour or something?

  4. What is the url for the store?

    What is the URL?
