DISTORTED SQUIRREL

DISTORTED SQUIRREL
"They were the usual winter prints of red squirrels, white rabbits, and foxes, but the brooding farmer professed to see something not quite right about their nature and arrangement. He was never specific, but appeared to think that they were not as characteristic of the anatomy and habits of squirrels and rabbits and foxes as they ought to be."
H.P. Lovecraft, The Colour Out Of Space

  3. That squirrel has the most crazed look on its face, and if you look at it's left paw, it looks like it's flipping us all the bird. That is a squirrel that is about to go kamikaze!

    1. That's the final stage of the disease caused by the Color out of Space. This story stood out above all others in an anthology of sci-fi for that year. When I saw it again in a Lancer paperback (long replaced by the Arkham hardbound edition, due to binding problems), it defined my life !
