BOKRUG
"However this may be, it is certain that they worshipped a sea-green stone idol chiselled in the likeness of Bokrug, the great water-lizard; before which they danced horribly when the moon was gibbous."
"Here was done the very secret and ancient rite in detestation of Bokrug, the water-lizard, and here rested the altar of chrysolite which bore the DOOM-scrawl of Taran-Ish."
H.P. Lovecraft, The Doom That Came To Sarnath
This is a redrawing of one of the first of HPLs gods I ever drew. While his Dunsanian stories are my least favorites, The Doom That Came To Sarnath has a real gloomy atmosphere.
This one's a redrawing but the design is basically the same; I just cleaned up the anatomy, color & linework.
From what I can tell. There aren't many illustrations of The Doom That Came To Sarnath (not even in it's original publications Marvel Tales or Weird Tales). My favorite though, is this illustration by Gervasio Gallardo for the Ballantine collection of HPLs work.
In other news, Pandæmonium Compendium zines will start going out today. There's still a few left so hit up the store if you want one!
