Lovecraft's Commonplace Book is a great source of inspiration. There's so many prompts with such enticing ideas but with little description.
My original concept was to create some giant amphibious creature that wasn't really based on anything that had actually lived. I landed on something that was a cross between a catfish and a frog. There's not too much of a difference between the original and the redrawing but I'm happier with the newer version.
