MUTANT PENGUIN

MUTANT PENGUIN
"For it was only a penguin - albeit of a huge, unknown species larger than the greatest of the known king penguins, and monstrous in its combined albinism and virtual eyelessness."

"Their size reminded us of some of the archaic penguins depicted in the Old Ones’ sculptures, and it did not take us long to conclude that they were descended from the same stock-undoubtedly surviving through a retreat to some warmer inner region whose perpetual blackness had destroyed their pigmentation and atrophied their eyes to mere useless slits."
H.P. Lovecraft, At the Mountains Of Madness

Not to much has changed with the design of this guy. Another one where I cleaned up the lifework, coloring and rendering.

For some reason, this guy has been one of my more popular designs. I've gotten a lot of correspondence about this one and someone even (after contacting me for approval) made gaming miniatures inspired by my designs (unfortunately I've lost all that correspondence so I don't have the links for who made these, please contact me if you see this)!
Clockwise from left: Me in Antarctica in 2008, gentoo penguins, chinstrap penguins and finally adélie penguins.

Now, you may remember I've posted on this blog before that I've been to Antarctica back in 2008. While there I saw a bunch of different penguins. I looked at some of my photos for reference.

Tomorrow's monster will be an obscure one that I completely overhauled.
