TOAD-THING
"On the roof, as it were one on each side of him, were two toad-like creatures which seemed constantly to be changing shape and appearance, and from whom emanated, by some means I could not distinguish, a ghastly ululation, a piping which was matched only by the shrill choir of the frogs, now risen to an truly cacophonous height."
H.P. Lovecraft & August Derleth, The Lurker At the ThresholdThis one, like the worm person, is the same basic design but a way better execution. I made the eyes more toad-like, the teeth larger and the headshape more like a toad's. I did really like the boneless arms & legs so I kept those.
The Lurker At The Threshold was first published in 1945 through Arkham House. The toad-things appear on a few of the covers; Notable the Ballantine edition with the cool Murray Tinkleman cover and the French edition with the laughable Tibor Csernus phot collage cover.
There's also these two editions with rad covers by Gina D'Achille (left) & Bob Haberfield (right).
